VIA “Proletarian Tango”

For the first time in Toronto!

VIA “Proletarian Tango”

A concert dedicated to Valentine’s Day

VIA “Proletarian Tango” is a bright and uplifting retro orchestra of stylish performers from Saint Petersburg, known for their warm and charming cover versions of Soviet-era hits.

VIA “Proletarian Tango” is a lively retro ensemble performing light, feel-good covers of classic Soviet pop songs, accompanied by a brass section and balalaika. In just two years, the group—led by its permanent artistic director, the charismatic Dmitry Karanevsky—has conquered both major and intimate concert venues in Saint Petersburg, performed at the city’s largest festivals, and toured Moscow and Sochi. Their repertoire includes beloved hits such as “Leningrad Bridges,” “Moscow Windows,” “Snow Is Falling,” “Shalandy,” and many more—songs the entire country danced to half a century ago and that remain familiar to this day.
