Interview with Sondra Radvanovsky, Ekaterina Gubanova, and Hibla Gerzmava — Part 3

For the third and final part of the inaugural interview series for the Show One Blog, we are happy to once again welcome Sondra Radvanovsky, Ekaterina Gubanova, and Hibla Gerzmava. #3 — What has been your favourite quarantine recipe?

Those of you out there that know me, know that I should not be anywhere near a kitchen, it’s dangerous. But I have embraced learning how to cook in the last few months, and have had cooking challenges with our neighbours here — while social distancing of course. I would have to say that my best recipe has been…carrot cake. It was my husband’s birthday on the 29th of May and I made him a carrot cake. It was pretty darn good, if I may say so. I’m going to keep on this journey and hopefully won’t kill anybody in the process. 

In terms of drinks: basically whatever is in the house. I’ve enjoyed day-drinking quite a bit over the last few months. I think it’s what has gotten us through these times. I did have a great recipe that I found online — gin is my favourite alcohol by the way — it was gin, freshly squeezed lemon juice, a little bit of simple sugar, and prosecco. White, yummy, goes down very well. 

 

Ekaterina Gubanova

Like many people during quarantine, I started baking. I mostly concentrated on the sweet stuff of course, and also because my husband likes the sweets. I really like this Italian crostata recipe, which is kind of like a tart/cake, it’s a hard paste made with a lot of butter and sugar. So I dug up a recipe for wholegrain crostatas, which is made with fructose and oil, for a much lighter version. Of course it’s not as splendid as the real thing but it makes you feel good after you eat it and know that you can do up your jeans afterwards. It’s also a very pretty and visually appealing cake 

 

Hibla Gerzmava

I’m not the type of person to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, though a lot of my friends have tremendous success in cooking really tasty meals. I am really happy for them. I’ve always been good at cooking, since my childhood, but now I can finally find much more time for baking, especially our much-loved Khachapoori (national Georgian warm sourdough pies with white soft ripened cheese).  They come out really good and look delicious. It isn’t good for the diet at all but I have always been a food lover and we enjoy all our meals at home. My favourite dishes are cuisine from the South of Russia, Georgia, and Italy. We are extremely hospitable people and everything is just so delicious.
