The Théâtre du Casino du Lac-Leamy, in Gatineau, hosted Tango After Dark, an international production that immerses the audience in the intense, sensual and elegant universe of tango. Conducted by the choreographer and star dancer Germán Cornejo, this show features a troupe of world-class dancers accompanied by musicians performing the compositions of the master of modern tango, Ástor Piazzolla, thus mixing tradition and modernity.
From the first minutes, the atmosphere settles. The play of light plunges the scene into a red-tinged twilight, evoking the intimacy of the nights of Buenos Aires. At the center of the stage, Germán Cornejo, nicknamed by some the “king of tango” and recognized as one of Jennifer Lopez’s favorite dancers, he leads the troupe with remarkable mastery. His dance is distinguished by sharp stops, lightning pivots and a keen sense of rhythm.

Noelia Pizzo
At his side, the renowned dancer Noelia Pizzo, with more than fifteen years of experience, delivers an equally impressive interpretation. Recognized on the international scene, she has represented Argentina at prestigious events such as Paris Fashion Week at the Grand Palais, Expo Milano, FITUR in Madrid or America’s Got Talent. His presence on stage harmonizes perfectly with the musical dimension of the show, where virtuosity and emotion respond.
Astor Piazzolla
The music, the beating heart of Tango After Dark, fully illustrates Ástor Piazzolla’s contribution to tango nuevo. By mixing jazz, classical music and traditional tango, Piazzolla has opened the genre to new harmonies, syncopated rhythms and melodic freedoms, making tango an experience as musical as it is danced.
In the production, the bandoneon unfolds its melancholy, while the strings and the piano intensify the dramatic moments and highlight the virtuosity of the duets, creating a constant dialogue between dance and music.
Combining sensuality, precision and musical intensity, Tango After Dark succeeds in transmitting to the public all the richness of Argentine tango while reinventing it in a resolutely contemporary form.
Following its remarkable visit to the Casino du Lac-Leamy in Gatineau, the troupe continued its Canadian tour in Montreal, at the Monument-National, on March 5, 6 and 7, 2026. The production will then fly to Europe for a new series of performances in London in April 2026.
